Admissions Information

Admissions Process

Policy Tema International School (TIS) is an inclusive school that accepts all students who are capable of accessing our curriculum, opportunities and experiences. At TIS, we believe that the IB experience is essential in developing our students into lifelong learners. We also believe that all students have their own talents. Notwithstanding, students must be prepared to change, be open-minded and be risk-takers to take advantage of the TIS opportunities and experiences and to discover and develop their new talents. To this end, each student is expected to demonstrate balance by being involved in academic, sporting, cultural and service activities that serve their interests and needs. Implementation TIS offers the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) as a Candidate PYP School, IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) in Grades 7-10 and the IB Diploma Programme (DP) in Grades 11-12. Admission into Grade 10 and Grade 12 is not encouraged except where the student has been pursuing the courses being offered here in TIS in his/her former school. Applications for admission are open throughout the year, starting from 1 December. All applications for admission are accepted through OpenApply only at https://tis.openapply.com. An application fee can be paid via ExpressPay, at the school, or into the school’s account. The account details can be found on the Bank Details page. All prospective students take an online cognitive ability test, and an interview conducted in English before they are admitted into the school. The cognitive ability test identifies a student's verbal and/or visual learning abilities and relates this to likely future attainment in subjects across the curriculum. The results are also a valuable guide for the students and parents in terms of future subject selection for MYP and DP Programmes. Online testing will be available from January each year. For students who reside outside Ghana, parents or guardians are required to furnish TIS with the name and address of the supervisor(s) who will be in charge of supervising the test. Details about conducting the online test will then be sent to the supervisor, who will then contact the parents of the prospective student(s) to arrange a date and time for the online test.
