Founded in 1951 as the Joint Embassy School, it became Jakarta International School in 1978 and Jakarta Intercultural School (JIS) in 2014. Approximately 2400 students representing 70 nationalities are enrolled at three campuses nestled in 20 hectares of lush tropical gardens. Class sizes range from 12 to 22 students organized in the best possible way to structure engaging learning for all students appropriate to the subject and course. Our Community of Care ensure that everyone is included, supported and appropriately challenged in all aspects of learning and wellness. JIS offers university preparation for students from early childhood through grade 12 accredited by the Council of International Schools and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. All JIS graduates earn a US high school diploma, and the majority pursue the International Baccalaureate Diploma, Capstone Diploma, or take individual IB and Advanced Placement courses concurrently. Beyond the classroom, JIS students have an incredible range of athletic, service, performing arts, visual arts, and academic extracurricular opportunities. JIS’s unique community prepares students for the world’s renowned universities and real-life challenges through a global learning environment, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
