Chinthurst School

From Louise Hughes, Admissions Registrar: A very warm welcome to Chinthurst! My own children attended school here and I remember being overwhelmed by the happy and welcoming atmosphere of the school when I first visited. I am the main point of contact for prospective parents and my aim is to make the admissions process as straightforward as possible. I look forward to talking to you.

Description

Chinthurst is a coeducational day school for children aged 2 to 11 years situated between the villages of Walton on the hill and Tadworth. It is a junior school of Reigate Grammar, the top coeducational day school in Surrey. Academic outcomes are excellent with children progressing to Reigate Grammar, or other highly selective independent and state schools both locally and further afield. However, it is the emphasis on wellbeing which really sets Chinthurst apart. Headteacher, Cathy Trundle, believes that an all-encompassing and thorough wellbeing programme is essential. The children are encouraged to take risks, try new things and failure is turned into a positive learning experience. This builds confidence and provides a strong foundation from which they can fulfil their potential. Chinthurst was shortlisted for Independent Prep School of the Year in 2019 and Independent School of the Year for Wellbeing in 2020.

Admissions Information

Admissions Process

Step 1 - Make an Enquiry The first step is to complete our online enquiry form so we have the necessary details about your family’s requirements. The Admissions Registrar will have a personal chat with you by phone if it is convenient, so she can answer specific questions you may have. Step 2 - Online Information and Arrange a Tour You will receive some online information about the school and then a tour of the site will be arranged. Step 3 - A Chat with the Headteacher Our Headteacher, Cathy Trundle, is very happy to discuss the individual needs of your child with you as well as the school's ethos and wellbeing programme. This can take place online, by telephone or in person. Step 4 - Application & Assessment Once you are comfortable that Chinthurst is the correct school for your child, we very much hope that you will register for a place with us. For Early Years children, we will ask for a contact at your child’s current school or nursery. For pupils in Year 1 and above, we will ask for a recent school report and a reference from your child’s current school. If appropriate, assessments will then be arranged.
