Description

Who We Are

In 1968, six American families joined together to create Lincoln Community School. Some 55 years later, Lincoln Community School is an International Baccalaureate World School offering the Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programs through the lens of U.S. curricular standards and is recognised as a leading international school in Africa.

In keeping with our ethos as an American-style international school, LCS offers a rich extracurricular program that fosters a well-balanced lifestyle. LCS students frequently stay beyond the regular school day to enjoy our after-school activity programs, which not only bring us together but also help ensure that we keep “community” at the centre of Lincoln School.

As an international school in an increasingly cosmopolitan Accra, our students and faculty come from countries around the globe. With a student population of approximately 550, LCS boasts more than 60 nationalities among its community and over 70 languages spoken. Our faculty is also intentionally diverse to ensure that the demographic of our teachers reflects that of the student body.

Our host nation is beautiful and diverse, and we strive to connect our students with the deep heritage of Ghana. Service learning opportunities develop self-awareness and social responsibility in our students, enabling them to make positive contributions to their world.
The school facilities are updated each year in line with our master facilities plan, approved by the Board of Trustees.
  • The Akyԑdeԑ building, and especially its library and the Nkɔsuɔ Bea auditorium, is the cornerstone of the Lincoln Community School campus. Intentionally designed, it provides learning spaces that best represent what we believe about high-quality teaching and learning including the Grade Hubs for collaboration and the teaching pods.\Our MakerSpace provides a collaborative creative area for our whole community.
  • The Nilee building and grounds, provide space for our High School Students, and our student support services team.
Planning is currently underway for the commencement of next phases of redevelopment, which will eventually include new middle and high school classrooms, a modern theater and extended recreational facilities.
