Description
Located in Spring Hill, Brisbane and educating young people for more than twenty years to prepare them for study at The University of Queensland, IES College is purposefully global in outlook and operations and our first cohort of high school students will benefit from a school that, Covid19 pandemic in 2020 or not, is also purposefully designed for online and remote learning and teaching to complement our face to face campus environment for all students. IES College is an authorised IB World School for the Diploma Programme and is part of a global community of schools committed to developing knowledgeable, caring young people who will be ready to negotiate their futures successfully and make contributions resulting in a more harmonious and peaceful world. Community - Diversity and Inclusion We hope to build a close-knit and positive school community in Spring Hill, Brisbane, based on principles like international mindedness, digital collaboration, and authentic community action. Being a smaller school means each student makes a meaningful impact on the community, and each student can feel supported and heard. Also, as a small school we encourage parent/guardian involvement and voice; we hope you will be a part of our community, too! As an independent, secular, co-educational and not for profit school, we celebrate diversity. In alignment with our inclusion policy, we are committed to honouring indigenous Australians, providing genuine opportunities for our students to learn about Australian Indigenous people and their stories and cultures. Students will have access to our cultural competence and inclusion programs developed with SBS, which are embraced in workplaces across Australia. Experienced Staff IES College's experienced staff are eager to work alongside our first cohort of students with care and provide young people with diverse backgrounds, experiences and talents with the skills to create positive change in the world. Our highly qualified teaching and professional staff are passionate about working with students to build knowledge and experiences that will shape their characters and lives. Student Success Advisors, who meet the young people at the beginning of each day, will also work alongside our students, providing health and wellbeing support, goal setting, a point of contact for parents/guardians and guidance. Brisbane as our campus Our fully refurbished Spring Hill building is a welcoming and comfortable learning hub. Globally inspired, light-filled spaces for collaboration and socialising, quiet places for concentration and deep thinking, flexible wi-fi classrooms that can be transformed for purpose, a research learning centre as the hub of our school, STEM and art studios, performing arts space and more. Integrating our school into the inner city Brisbane community, we are accessing green space and other community facilities nearby as an extension of our school campus for health and wellbeing, community engagement and to provide more access to learning in real-world environments. For students looking for a residential school option, IES College is partnering with a leading inner city student accommodation provider to offer a safe and secure dedicated student living experience located just one kilometre from the College, as well as home stay options for those students and families who prefer a home environment. If IES College sounds like the school community you want to be part of, we look forward to welcoming you.
