Admissions Process
• The search for an independent school is stressful, but the admissions process shouldn't make it worse. That's why we keep it simple: visit us, and if you love The Darrow School (and you will), we'll escort you through the rest of the application. • Key Dates: Darrow operates on a rolling admission basis, meaning that applications will be reviewed as they become complete and families will be notified of decisions as soon as they are made. • Financial Aid Application Deadline: February 10th • Decision letters and financial aid award notifications: March 10th • Confirmation of acceptance: Requested by April 1st • Application Formats: Online Application Standard Application Online (SAO) or Request Hard Copy Application. A completed application package consists of the following eight (8) elements: Completed Application Form, Two (2) teacher recommendations, Student essay, Parent essay, Current school transcript, Completed interview Standardized Test Scores (our SSAT school code is 2740), Application fee of $75, Supplements for International Students: A test of English proficiency (for students whose primary language is not English). Tests may include, but are not limited to, TOEFL, TOEFL Jr, iTEP, SSAT or the Duolingo English Test.

Learning Support
Academic Mentorship is exactly what it sounds like: it is a program of one-on-one or two-on-one educational training sessions that enable students to improve their academic skills. In the same sense that personal athletic training catalyzes better sports performance, Academic Mentorship brings out the highest levels of effort and achievement in scholastic pursuits. It advances learning through targeted support, ongoing discussion, and assessment of progress. Academic Mentors are Darrow teachers who understand each student's individual learning strengths and needs, environmental preferences, language barriers, personal learning history, and long-term goals, and who establish a roadmap for that student's achievement. Academic Mentorship may involve any area of study. Regardless of the subject, three key program elements are observed: Goals are established and connected to strategies for reaching them. Technology is incorporated to facilitate workflow and build technical literacy. Time-management skills are reviewed, including how to estimate the time required to complete a task, and how to create the right conditions for doing one's best work.

Living Accommodations
The dorms (named Hinckley, Brethren's, Neale, Meacham, and Ann Lee) are your home away from home, where you can relax and retreat. Dorm living affords students the opportunity to learn some of the most important skills for their adult lives: cooperative problem solving; respect for other people's space and possessions; independence; personal responsibility. Most of our student rooms are doubles or triples.
