Foxcroft Academy

Thank you for considering Foxcroft Academy.

Chartered by the Maine legislature in 1823, Foxcroft Academy was established as an independent high school just a few years after the incorporation of the town of Foxcroft itself. A remarkable history has followed. From modest beginnings in a wood frame building for which the town appropriated $100, the Academy now occupies a 125-acre campus with a full complement of academic, athletic, and residential facilities. Today more than 300 day students are enrolled from the surrounding towns of Dover-Foxcroft, Sebec, Charleston, Bowerbank, Monson, and Harmony, with an additional 100 international students hailing from Brazil, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Italy, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, South Korea, Taiwan, Turkey, Ukraine, and Vietnam. Foxcroft Academy may have a long and storied history, but we are also very much a school on the move. A lot has changed at the Academy over the past five years. In academics, we have become the first high school in Maine to implement a 1-to-1 iPad initiative, have reinforced our standard-based learning practices by adopting PowerSchool, and have enhanced our curriculum by giving our talented and creative faculty the freedom to develop a great variety of new academic offerings, including 25 Visual and Performing Arts courses and 15 offerings in Technical Education. We also continue to fill all of our allotted slots at Tri-County Technical Center, a regional high school program providing occupational preparation courses such as Commercial Truck Driving, Computer Systems Repair, Criminal Justice, and Health Occupations. In campus news, we've built a second beautiful dorm on campus (enabling us to now house up to 96 students right here on FA grounds), resurfaced our track, added the Mary Kammerer Fittig LCD Sign, finished the Burns-Johnson Tennis Complex, and in 2015 completed construction of the Mary Kammerer Fittig Humanities Wing, which adds two state-of-the-art classrooms to campus and connects the main academic building with the Industrial Arts center. In athletics, we have won 12 state championships in the 13 years Tim Smith has served as Athletic Director, and our student-athletes have recently earned prestigious Sportsmanship Awards in boys' basketball, girls' basketball, girls' tennis, boys' soccer, softball, and football. In community news, we continue to work closely with many local businesses and organizations–including Pine Tree Hospice, Center Theatre, and Womancare–and we recently discovered that members of the Class of 2015 combined to amass more than 10,000 hours of community service during their time at FA! In sum, there is little doubt that Foxcroft Academy is a school on the rise, and colleges around the nation have certainly taken notice. Students from the Classes of 2012+ have received acceptance letters from 77+ schools ranked in the top 100 of the 2015 U.S. News and World Report's National University rankings or Liberal Arts College rankings, including Cornell University, Northwestern all visitors (web)University, Bucknell University, Georgetown University, Smith College, Emory University, University of California at Berkeley, USC, UCLA, Carnegie Mellon, University of Virginia, UNC – Chapel Hill, Wake Forest, Bates College, Colby College, Boston College, Boston University, and New York University. Our mission at Foxcroft Academy is to develop responsible and informed citizens, critical thinkers, and collaborative leaders. We are a community promoting the development of integrity, character, and the skills necessary for lifelong learning. We welcome you to stop by our campus to see this work in action.
