University Counselor – Welcome

XLIS University Counseling aims to help students and parents as they prepare for the student’s next phase of education; university. The college application process is a journey, it begins with the student’s first step into secondary school. The earlier that families begin to prepare for this stage, the better and the more informed decisions they will make.

The application process requires close communication between students, parents, and university counselors (and that all parties should approach their roles with an open mind, a sense of adventure, and wisdom). However, the leading actor on the stage is always the student. He/she should be proactive in the process instead of relying on others. Moreover, please do not hesitate to contact the university counselor with questions or concerns. (Kate Yu, Kate.yu@xalis.com)

The college application process presents an opportunity for personal growth, self-reflection, and self-discovery. We will support students as they navigate through the journey of college admissions. While the outcomes are important, we believe that the key to college admission is discovering the most appropriate matches between students and colleges.

This is an opportunity of personal growth that cannot be deprived and during this process, the college counselor supports and guides students. Please keep the counselor informed about all your applications, recommenders, replies from the universities, and any external counselors being consulted.
