Dwight School London is a small north London IB World School with students representing 50 nationalities. Admissions Information

Admissions Process

Submit online application, application fee (paid by credit card) and supporting documents. We may recommend/request an interview online or in-school, and may suggest a taster day if viable. The application file is reviewed by the Upper or Lower School Admissions Committees, and successful applicants are notified and invited to secure the place by completing the Acceptance Form and paying the deposit. The School will not hold a place without receipt of the Acceptance Form and deposit.


Entry Requirements

Satisfactory school reports for the previous two years, a reference from the previous school, other supporting document including family statements and a student essay.

Teacher Qualifications

All teachers are fully qualified and have the necessary IB training in addition to their own educational qualifications and experience.


Homework

Homework is regarded as a means of reinforcing classroom-based learning and activities. Homework may also be individual research activity to support an IB theme or unit of learning. It is designed to enable students to develop individual responsibility for their learning.


Gifted and talented student support

The school offers modified timetables, including remote learning opportunities for elite athletes or entertainers whose training or work schedules require them to be out of school. Gifted students may also do some courses with older students on a case-by-basis, or given assignments the are aimed at extending their learning within their own year group.


Use of technology in the classroom

The school a has ipads and chromebooks, though older students are asked to provide their own devices. The school uses google classroom and other learning platforms accessed through these devices. The Upper School Library also has extensive online resources.


Learning Support

Dwight accepts students with a wide range of abilities, subject to space, class balance, and on the understanding that students may be required to participate in the Quest Programme for the provision of additional learning support necessary to successfully engage in the IBPYP, IBMYP and IBDP.. Through our Quest Programme, students receive one-to-one tuition from trained staff in skills such as reading, maths, writing and organisation. The aim of the Quest Programme is to teach students with different learning styles or difficulties to function successfully and independently in an academically challenging, IB mainstream setting.


Native English Teachers

Dwight teachers represent a diverse range of backgrounds and nationalities and all are trained IB teachers. We are proud to have several multi-or bilingual teachers, They must have proficiency in English, unless they are engaged as teachers of mother-tongue languages where their native proficiency is the priority.


Languages Taught

Acquired languages include Spanish, French, Mandarin, others subject to demand and with additional cost.


Examinations Available

In 2020 our IBDP exams result average was 33 points (worldwide average 30 points), 91% pass rate, with a top score of 40 points. 6 Bilingual Diplomas were awarded.

The majority of our students apply to British universities, including Oxford and Russell Group universities. Others go to universities in Japan, US and Canada, or other European destinations.


University Counseling

A comprehensive counselling programme begins in M5 to help students plan their IB Course selection based on their potential university interest. Dwight Global also has a university counsellor to support applicants interested in university destinations beyond the UK or US. Our New York school university counseling colleagues provide some support for students bound for North America.
