Living Accommodations

Boarding students live in purpose-built residences located on the TCIS campus. Most bedrooms accommodate two or three students and include beds, desks, storage areas, private bathrooms, large windows, and individually controlled heating and air conditioning.

Each residence includes comfortable shared spaces where students can study, relax, and spend time with friends. Facilities include supervised study rooms, recreation and television areas, kitchenettes, and free laundry facilities. Dining facilities are conveniently located on the ground floor of the residence building, and students also have access to the school’s athletic facilities and fitness center.

Residential faculty live within each dormitory. Dorm-parent apartments are located near the central common areas, while resident assistants live at the ends of student hallways, making trusted adults accessible when students need guidance or support. Dorm offices serve as central points for communication and supervision.

These accommodations provide more than a convenient place to live. They create a comfortable, structured environment where students can build friendships across cultures, develop independence and responsibility, and feel known and supported within the boarding community.

Schools Facilities

TCIS is located on a peaceful 10-acre hillside campus overlooking Daejeon’s Daedeok Techno Valley. The purpose-built campus combines modern learning facilities, green surroundings, and spaces designed to support academic learning, creativity, athletics, community life, and boarding.

Large classrooms are equipped for active learning and supported by high-speed wireless internet throughout the campus. Specialized facilities include science laboratories, technology and design classrooms, light-filled visual arts studios, and dedicated music and drama spaces.

The Performing Arts Center includes an approximately 500-seat auditorium with a full stage, orchestra pit, and professional sound and lighting systems. Additional production areas support costume, makeup, set construction, video, and backstage work. A separate Activity Center accommodates up to 700 people for performances, assemblies, activities, and major community gatherings.

Elementary and secondary Learning Commons provide age-appropriate spaces and resources for reading, research, collaboration, and independent study. The secondary facility extends across two floors and offers access to print collections and major online research databases.

Athletic facilities include an artificial-surface soccer field, tennis courts, two gymnasiums, and a fully equipped fitness center. The campus also includes two cafeterias and a large residential complex with five dormitory communities for boarding students and live-in staff.

Together, these facilities give students space to inquire, create, perform, compete, collaborate, and build relationships. Although the campus offers extensive opportunities, it remains close-knit and easy to navigate, helping students feel known, connected, and fully involved in school life.

Sports Teams

TCIS offers a dedicated middle school athletics program as well as junior varsity and varsity sports for high school students. Programs are age-appropriate and inclusive, welcoming both experienced athletes and students exploring a sport for the first time.

Middle school students in Grades 6–8 can participate in cross-country, soccer, basketball, volleyball, tennis, badminton, and table tennis. High school students in Grades 9–12 can participate in volleyball, tennis, cross-country, basketball, cheerleading, soccer, and badminton. These lists are at the conference level, and others may be available through the year in less formal offerings.

As a member of the Korean-American Interscholastic Activities Conference (KAIAC) and Asia Pacific Activities Conference (APAC), TCIS provides opportunities for interschool competition in Korea and across the Asia-Pacific region.

Athletics at TCIS emphasize more than performance. Through training and competition, students develop teamwork, resilience, discipline, leadership, and respect for others. Coaches know their athletes personally and encourage them to improve their skills, contribute to their teams, and represent the school community with integrity.

Pastoral Care

Pastoral care at TCIS reflects our commitment to knowing and supporting each student as a whole person – academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. From Kindergarten through Grade 12, students are surrounded by a caring network of teachers, counselors, advisors, administrators, and boarding staff who help them feel safe, valued, and connected.

Through advisory, counseling, chapel, classroom guidance, individual conversations, community-building experiences, and residential life, students have trusted adults they can approach for support. School counselors provide developmentally and culturally appropriate assistance with relationships, transitions, personal challenges, academic planning, conflict resolution, university preparation, and future pathways. They work collaboratively with teachers, school leaders, and families to respond to individual needs.

Grounded in the school’s Christian identity, pastoral care encourages students to develop resilience, integrity, compassion, responsibility, and hope. It helps students understand themselves, build healthy relationships, make thoughtful choices, and grow with confidence and purpose.

At TCIS, pastoral care is not a separate program added to school life. It is part of the daily experience through which students are known personally, supported through challenges, and encouraged to become caring and purposeful members of their communities.

Religion at School

TCIS is a non-denominational Christian school that welcomes students and families from different national, cultural, and faith backgrounds. Students are not required to be Christian, but all participate in a learning community shaped by a Christian understanding of love, hope, integrity, responsibility, service, and respect for others.

Christian perspectives are thoughtfully integrated into school life through learning, chapel, spiritual-life activities, service, pastoral care, and community relationships. Students are encouraged to explore questions of faith, identity, character, and purpose while learning to engage respectfully with people whose beliefs and experiences may differ from their own.

The goal of Christian education at TCIS is not simply the acquisition of religious knowledge. It is to help students connect what they learn with how they live – caring for others, making responsible choices, seeking truth, and using their abilities to contribute meaningfully. In this way, students are prepared globally while remaining grounded in character and purpose.

Students are not required to profess the Christian Faith in order to attend, and academic preference is never given or withheld based on professed religious practice/belief.

University Destinations

TCIS graduates pursue university pathways throughout Korea, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Their destinations include large research universities, liberal arts colleges, specialist art and design schools, and institutions recognized for engineering, medicine, business, social sciences, humanities, and emerging interdisciplinary fields.

Each student is encouraged to choose a destination that fits their academic interests, strengths, goals, financial circumstances, and personal needs. TCIS does not define success through institutional prestige alone. A successful destination is one where a student can continue to learn, grow, contribute, and prepare meaningfully for the future.

The Class of 2026 demonstrates the breadth of these global pathways. Graduates received admission offers from 106 universities and colleges, with offers distributed across the United States (73%), Asia and Australia (12%), the United Kingdom (10%), Canada (4%), and Europe (1%). The class also received approximately USD $3.168 million in merit-based scholarship offers.

Recent offers have included Stanford University, UCLA, University of California – Berkeley, University College London, King’s College London, University of Toronto, University of Sydney, University of Edinburgh, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Waseda University, and other respected institutions worldwide.

University Counseling

University and career counseling at TCIS is a personalized process that helps students understand their strengths, explore meaningful possibilities, and pursue right-fit pathways with confidence. The goal is not simply to gain admission to a university, but to help each student identify where they can thrive academically, personally, and purposefully.

Preparation develops throughout high school. In Grade 9, students begin strengthening academic habits and reflecting on their interests. Grade 10 introduces possible university and career pathways. In Grade 11, students move into focused research and application planning. During Grade 12, counselors guide them through applications, admissions decisions, and final enrollment.

Students receive individual support with course selection, university research, application strategy, essays and personal statements, recommendations, interviews, testing guidance when needed, and final decision-making. Counselors consider academic fit, student interests, university requirements, family priorities, and long-term goals rather than applying one definition of success to every student.

TCIS students pursue universities in Korea, North America, the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, and throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Counselors help students understand the requirements of different admissions systems, including documentation, language considerations, and application pathways for Korean universities.

Through this process, students are known personally, guided toward purposeful goals, and prepared to move confidently into universities and communities around the world.

Can Korean National Students Attend?

Yes. Korean-national students may apply to TCIS without having previously lived outside Korea.

Under the eligibility provisions applying to foreign schools within the Daedeok R&D Special Zone, the former requirement for Korean applicants to have lived abroad for at least three years has been removed. This means local Korean families, returning families, and internationally mobile Korean families may all apply.

Eligibility to apply does not guarantee admission. Applicants must complete the TCIS admissions process, meet the school’s admission requirements, and apply to a grade with available space. The number of Korean-national students enrolled is also subject to the proportion permitted under applicable regulations.
